"Hi I'm Johanna and this is Karen with Hip Expressions Belly Dance studio in St. Petersburg Florida; let's work on our rocking undulation traveling to the side with our left foot. So let's put our left foot forward; our right foot's back, you keep your feet under you so you're not taking too huge of a step; good and arms out away from the body, good and rocking forward and back; good. So that left foot is always keeping time; forward and back, traveling to the sides; step out with the left and back with the right, 1 2 3 4; 1 2 good, now back the other way; cross the left foot over, left foot's still leading; left foot's still keeping time so our feet are still going left right left right evenly paced, good and left right; make sure you're not taking a big step out to the side so it's a big step out and then little step in, try to keep the steps equal; good. Now practice in front of a mirror so you know you're not doing a big level change; we're not going up and down with this movement, it's staying isolated in the torso; forward and back, keep the shoulder blades down; good. Try it a little faster; good and left right, left right; left right, so you can take this side to side either direction; good, excellent. Keep your weight on the balls of your feet; good, excellent job; now drill that over and over and soon you'll be dancing across the dance floor."
