"You know consumer fireworks that are legal can add a lot of fun to any party or holiday event. Hi I'm Captain Joe Bruni with over three decades of firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency medical service response experience. What we're going to talk about is the general guideline to follow involving pets and the use of consumer fireworks. Pets such as dogs and cats have very sensitive ears and are very prone to being frightened by the use of commercial or consumer legal fireworks. Things that emit showers or sparks or things that explode like the common firecracker, roman candle or bottle rocket can present a lot of fear into the dog or cat. Pets should be kept indoors during home use fireworks displays that take place in back yards and at events such as parties and holiday get togethers. By keeping the pet indoors it will pose no threat to other people if the pet becomes excited and wants to bite or if the pet tries to injure him or herself. Remember pets and fireworks do not mix, keep all pets indoors during backyard consumer fireworks displays. I'm captain Joe Bruni, stay safe and we'll see you next time."
