"You know, consumer fireworks can add a lot of fun to any part of your holiday event. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni, with over three decades of firefighting and emergency medical service experience. What we're going to talk about, is the proper procedure, for igniting fireworks. The basic safety rule of thumb, is to have someone who is a responsible adult, to supervise, and to be the ignition person, or the shooter, for common consumer fireworks. Common consumer fireworks, such as these fountains that spray showers of sparks, or the common sparkler, should always be lit one at a time. Never should a burning sparkler be lit, and then handed off to somebody else. The person that is the user, should hold the unignited sparkler, and have the ignition person light it. The ignition person lighting the common fountain, or other types of consumer fireworks, like bottle rockets, or other types of devices, should practice only lighting one at a time. With this general safety guideline, it will help to reduce the chances of burn injuries, and accidental fires, that occur each year across the United States, during the holiday season. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and we'll see you next time."
