"Hello I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa and this is Kickboxing. We're working on basics for our hand pads, this basic is called Punching With The Pads. Now, the Punching With The Pads is when you start mixing up offensive and defensive combinations. So, offensive combinations will be where Melissa would just be like throw like a jab at my glove. Okay, that will be like an offense combination. A defense or counter combination will be like if I throw right hand and she slips the action, I throw the punch, and she comes up hook punching, okay, that will like a counter combination. So this is when you would be using the punches with your hand pads in that fashion. So just demonstrating for you first. You face your opponent this way, where your hands are up in normal position for straight punch. Now as you reach out, you reach your hand out this way and you put the top of the glove reaching out, so it's like you're trying to use your palm, "don't move Melissa", and I'm trying to touch my palm like this to their head, okay, or, this to their shoulder, or this to their body. Okay. And this would be punching with your hand mets. Now we'll show you just a few of them. So we're both left to left, so I fire my left hand, she's going to slip to the side, boom, I pop back up. I throw the other hand, okay. So using the pads reaching forward with the met, you don't want to turn them sideways like this, to where they have a small profile, but you want to have this large met coming at them. This is Punching With Your Mets, Kickboxing basics."
