"Hello I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa. And this is kick boxing. We are working on pad basics, so to hold our pads for our elbow strikes. The elbow strike can be done two different ways, one way is that we can work the elbow strike kind of far away, and I'll demonstrate that one for us first. So the far away one, so Mellisa is going to be coming forward, stand over here Melissa. Ok this one is done kind of the same way that we did before with our rear leg round kick. We double stack the hands. Ok so I place the hands out this way and she steps in and elbows ok. So this is one way of holding it. As she makes contact with it I am pushing in and I'm firming up my hands. Again my elbows are pushing down to my body this way, I'm not letting them come out here. Ok. Here I don't have real support and if they hit very strong I'll hit my own self. The other way to do this elbow strike is to place your hands this way and this would be close in elbows. Ok so you would be using your forward arm and using it across the body. Now my body is here supporting it and I'm pushing my hand into the glove as she is making contact. So again with elbows we either have crossing right or using your own body for support the action. Ok several positions. This is basic for kick boxing holding pads elbow strikes."
