"Hi my name is Mark Breaux. I have been working in men's tailored clothing for about twenty five years now and I am here, I'm going to demonstrate how to tie a half Windsor. It ties a fairly even knot. It is not as broad or as wide as the full Windsor but it's a little simpler to tie and it still comes out looking fairly symmetric and even. It does not give you that angled look. First thing you want to do when you are tying the half Windsor; again judge your length of your tie correctly. You know where you need to start at. That just takes some practice to get that length correct. But first thing you want to do is you want to cross over. And then you want to go completely around the tie. The tag end of the tie. And then go down through the neck. And now the tie, the long side of the tie started out on this side of the mannequin. Now after I go around and down through the neck I want to cross it over, I want to pull it away. And I want to pull that knot tight there so it forms a small triangle right here. That gives you your base of your knot. And it gives the form to the underneath. Then you cross it over the face and go up through the neck and then down through that loop. And form the face of the tie. And you just pull it and then the half Windsor here. The face of the tie wants to ride up a lot. So you want to be able to take that. Just grab it like that and pull it down. And then you just put the dimple in the bottom of the knot there. And then you pull it up. And you can see that tie is not quiet as thick of a knot. It is a little softer and a little narrower at the top but still fairly even and gives you a nice presentation. And that is how to tie a half Windsor."
