"Hi, my name is Mitra Chester, and I'm at Deluxe Resale Shop in Eugene, Oregon, and I'm going to teach you how to put holes in your jeans today. The first thing we'd like to do when you're putting holes in jeans is to try them on, and using a piece of regular chalk, mark on your jeans where you want the holes to be placed. It is very important that you do this so that they're not offset and looking awkward and oddly placed when you're actually wearing them. So once you've done this you can take them off, and basically all you need is a pair of scissors, make sure they're fabric scissors, and with a larger hole keep in mind that you need to wash and dry them after you've cut the hole and that's going to create this frayed look which will take up a little more room. So you want to actually, if you want a hole this size when it's finally done, like with the fraying, you want to cut a little bit within the perimeter. So you're going to begin by starting maybe around the center of the area of the hole and just basically cutting out in the shape that you desire, a section of denim, just like this. And for a smaller hole, and you don't really need to have the, if you wanted a little more offset or jagged or asymmetrical, you can achieve that, but it's kind of going to do its own thing when it's in the washing machine. And then with the smaller hole you basically do the same thing, you can even just cut out a little segment like that, but keep in mind it is going to grow a little bit once you wash and dry it. And that's about all there is to it. Throw them in the washing machine, throw them in the dryer, that will fray out the edges and you'll have your hole!"
