"Hi my name is Mitra Chester and I am here at Deluxe Resale Shop in Eugene Oregon and I am going to talk to you today about how to break in new jeans. By breaking them in I assume you are talking about softening them up and getting certain types of affects of wear that comes naturally from wearing them over time. Some jeans you can actually purchase with that pre-done. There is a lot of pre distressing done on certain pairs. So if you want that look initially you may opt for a pair that has that already done. If you want to accomplish that through actually wearing them, you first want to consider the fit. If you want effects like whiskers or maybe whiskers on the back of the leg, they need to fit correctly so that over time they will actually make those wrinkles and fade along those lines. So first and foremost consider the fit of the jeans. Also you might consider the initial fade and fabric content of the jeans. Now these three pairs are 100% cotton and these two are kind of stiffer canvas like denims. They are less likely to soften as quickly or to fade as quickly. These two are kind of a soft cotton. This one is the classic wash. That would fade pretty quickly through washing but you want to be careful of this technique or this effect that you get from washing them right side in hot water, which is called marbling. To avoid that you want to turn them inside out and wash them in cooler water. But these will achieve kind of the whiskering and creasing over time that you want by washing them and wearing them. These will soften up. They already have the pre determined kind of fading and effects going on and they will probably overlay this with actual wear. So make sure when you are buying pre distressed jeans that the placement of these effects are appropriate for your body and the jeans on them. If you want ones that are softer you might try a denim with a fabric content containing ramie or spandex which will already have a little bit of give to them. And that will basically you will be able to have some stretch that is accomplished through wearing jeans over time initially. These you may accomplish that over time through washing and wearing but if you want that from the get go you want to purchase something with a little bit of stretch to it. And you can wash the jeans often, wear them often. Wash them with fabric softener if you want them to be softer more quickly. You can also achieve certain effects manually and synthetically by applying them to your jeans without actually having to accomplish those through wearing them. So check out some of those. But that is how you break in your new jeans."
