Video Transcript

"Hello, my name's Officer Mike Roach. I currently work with the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources. Today I'd like to talk briefly about becoming a Game Warden in the State of Illinois. Illinois requires that you have a high school education, and that you be able to pass a background investigation because eventually you'll become a certified Peace Officer in the state and required to enforce wildlife laws. While going to the Police Academy, you'll get the law enforcement training that you need in order to effectively do your job. As a Game Warden in the State of Illinois, you're required to do a lot of physical activity. Part of the job in working is going to be working with the biologists in collecting wildlife samples and things such as that. It requires a lot of physical exertion, so you need to be able to pass a physical exam and a physical test. In order to enforce the wildlife laws, you'll need to also be certified as a Peace Officer for that state and pass their academy. Game Wardens are required to both express their ideas with wildlife law enforcement in both written and be able to speak to the public. They often have different activities where they have to speak to the public and they require you to have that kind of basic skills."
