"Hello, my name is Officer Mike Roach. I work with the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources. Today I'd like to talk briefly about how to become a Game Warden. First of all, you need to be at least a U.S. Citizen. You need to also be at least twenty-one years of age. You need to be able to pass a fairly extensive background investigation. The education requirements to become a Game Warden are that you have a Biological Science Degree in a natural resource related field such as wildlife biology or forestry. They also accept both criminology and sociology degrees. You also have to be able to pass a physical examination and a physical test. A lot of what we do as Game Wardens is fairly physical. And we do a lot of things outdoors, hiking, moving things, occasionally picking up and moving wild animals, and you need to be fairly physically fit. Also eventually you're going to have to become a certified Peace Officer in the State that you work. And in order to do that, you need, obviously the background investigation comes into play, and you need to be able to go to this Police Academy and learn about the laws. So there's going to be both a written test and a lot of physical things you're going to have to do with regards to like shooting different firearms and arrest control. But also, just learning about the laws and other things."
