"Hello, my name is Officer Mike Roach and I currently work for the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources as a Conservation Officer. Early on in my career, for the first five years I spent working as a Law Enforcement Park Ranger for this state. The requirements to be a Law Enforcement Park Ranger are that you have to be at least twenty-one years of age. This is because you will eventually be certified as a Peace Officer. To become certified as a Peace Officer and a Law Enforcement Park Ranger, you need to pass a fairly extensive law enforcement background investigation. You also need to be able to pass both a physical test and a physical examination. While at the Police Academy or the training center where you'll be sent, you'll learn all about law enforcement and how to conduct your job effectively. Part of being a Law Enforcement Park Ranger is protecting the people that use the park and your park patrons. And your job needs to be taken fairly seriously because these people have come to recreate and enjoy the park. Part of it is also protecting the natural resource value that's in the park. And you'll need to have a fairly good background in both those areas. As a Park Ranger, it's a very rewarding career. You get to work with a lot of people, you get to meet a lot of interesting people, and you get to work in a really nice park environment setting."
