"Hello, my name is Officer Mike Roach. I work with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resource and I'm a Conservation Officer. I've been doing this job for about eleven years. Today I'd like to talk to you briefly about becoming a Game Warden in the State of Florida. Florida requires that you be at least eighteen years of age, that you could be at least a naturalized citizen, that you're in good physical shape. You also need to be able to pass a background investigation and not to have been in too much trouble because you're going to need to be certified as a Peace Officer eventually. And also part of the requirement is that you pass a physical examination. You need to be able to swim. You also need to be able to pass a physical test because a lot of the job requires lifting and moving around and hiking. The swimming part is you're going to spend a lot of time in Florida in a boat and working out of a boat and you need to be able, that's just a precautionary measure. Going to the Police Academy is going to require you to pass a written exam and a physical exam. There you'll be trained with firearms instruction, also basic law enforcement instruction to where you can be certified in that state. These Academies usually run twelve to seventeen weeks in length and require you to do both written and physical type of things."
