How to Store Children's Clothes

"Hi, I'm Ginger Walker, owner of Clean Junkies. We're going to talk about how to store children's clothes now. Say you're going to store your child's clothes, you know, the winter wardrobe versus the summer wardrobe, you're just going to want to make sure you give them a good wash, good dry, don't ever put them away damp. You're going to have mildew problems if you do. You're going to want to fold them nicely so that they come out when the season calls for them, nice and fresh. Give them a good fold, put them in the basket. One thing you really want to pay attention to with kid's clothes is the stains. If you've got stains on the clothes give them a good pre-treating, you know, before you wash them. Make sure those stains are out, because as they sit, the soils will, you know, permeate through to the other clothes and you don't want that to happen. So you'll go ahead and store those in there. Again with the storage container, you can use a decorative basket if it's like a seasonal type change. If you're going to be storing them, say they've grown out of clothes, you can store them in a sealed container, like a Rubbermaid type container or you can use those bags that zip and vacuum out the air, those are great containers as well. One thing that I like to do when I'm storing clothes is put in a fabric softener sheet, put that in there and that just gives it a nice fresh smell when you open those back up. Something else that you want to think about is putting in mothballs, that will keep all of that, the moths and insects out. And, what people do as well, sometimes, is put in cedar chips if they like that smell and that will give a good scent for when you open those back up. So again, with the kid's clothes, usually you're storing kid's clothes when you're going from, you know, they've outgrown them. Make sure those stains are well taken care of because they will get all over the others."
