Since the dawn of time, men and women alike have preferred clean clothing over dirty clothing. Cave drawings uncovered in the Mesopotamian Desert wilderness show women heating rocks and rubbing them on fur clothing. Dirty clothing was actually an offense punishable by death in The Code of Hammurabi. A recent archaeological discovery has uncovered the oldest laundromat in recorded history while excavating the ancient city of Ur. Cleverly named Laund-UR-mat, this laundromat, actually started by Abraham's youngest brother Ephraham, is historical proof that even thousands and thousands of years ago, human beings found washing clothes inconvenient and tedious and that people would rather outsource laundry than take the time to do it at home. Fortunately, there is help for those of us that turn white shirts into pink ones and ruin blouses. In this free laundry washing video series, professional cleaner Ginger Walker teaches the proper way to wash just about anything. Walker handles washing hats, blue jeans, silk, men's dress shirts and more. She also offers tips for acid washing jeans, washing clothes with baking soda, doing laundry by hand and whitening without bleach. Walker uses her experience owning a cleaning company to offer tips on storing clothes as well.

"Hi, I'm Ginger Walker, owner of Clean Junkies, and I'm here today to talk about how to do laundry. There are so many things to consider, when you're thinking about doing laundry. I know it sounds really simple, and it is, but there's lots of things to consider. You've got lots of different detergents. You've got liquid detergents. You've got powder detergents. You've got fabric softener sheets, stain removers, things that people don't think about using a lot. Vinegar, we've got vinegar. Baking soda, and ways that you can use those to whiten your laundry and all that. We also have different tools that can be used. Fabric softener balls, things like that, so we're going to talk about how to take care of all of your laundry needs. When we get to the actual machine that we're going to be using, we have a lot of things to look at. We've got different cycles. You've got white cycle, heavy duty cycle, obviously your whites you're going to do your whites in there. Heavy duty's would be things like towels, jeans. Normal cycle are your light clothes, your lightweight t-shirts, things like that. You've got a rapid wash, if you're in a hurry, and you need to get something done quickly. You've got your delicates, which could be your undergarments. You've got maybe nylons, things of that nature. You've got a setting for silk, wool, and hand washing, so you've got lots of different settings there that you can use. We have our water temperature as well. We've got some different settings. We've got super hot. You would want to use that when you're washing your whites. Hot can be washed as well, with the whites. Your warm settings would be more for your, you can use it for jeans, also your light colors, things of that nature. Your cold settings are best used with your heavy jeans, your dark clothes, because that's going to help, so that you don't lose a lot of the color."
