"Hey guys, today we're going to talk about what skills are necessary to be a DJ. And I would say in addition to just a profound love and knowledge of your music, is definitely the ability to multi-task. Don't forget, you're going to be playing one song for the crowd as they dance, and you've got to be a step ahead of the crowd, selecting what you're going to play next, figuring out if it matches BPM or key wise, and then definitely to remain focused. You may have to play four, five, six, seven hours in the night, and you've got to be able to read your crowd, and stay connected with your audience, as well as be able to stay focused for that long a period of time. Okay, you also need business and technical skill, knowledge of your trade. You also got to get out there and research what other DJs are playing and what's hot in the clubs, or what's hot for the particular demographic or venue that you're playing. So definitely love of music, multi-tasking, technical knowledge, musical knowledge, and don't forget it's music, have fun."
