"Hi. This is John Stewart and this is how to select and pack your food for a weekend camping trip. When you decide to go on a weekend camping trip you first need to find out how many people is going with you. Is it you and another person or you and about five or six people? At that point you need to begin to ration out and plan your meals. Figure out what kind of food you are going to take. Canned food, dehydrated food, stuff like that. You going to take some fresh stuff, crackers anything like that. Figure out what you want to take, get it and then you can begin to pack it. I'm going to show you some different types of foods. First, real important is some dehydrated meals. These things don't take up a lot of space. They are dehydrated, so all the moisture is taken out of them. They're real easy to prepare. Boil some water, pour it into the package, wait ten minutes and you've got a hot meal. They come in many, many different flavors. So, dehydrated meals fast and easy to prepare, not a lot of prep and clean up. You also want to take and have some energy bars and stuff like that, so that during the middle of the day if you don't want to stop for lunch and stuff like that you can grab a quick energy bar. It'll give you a pick me up for the day. Also they're good for, like, those small pick me ups in case you're feeling bad and needed that extra energy boost. OK. Other things, trail mix it's real basic, carry them along with you, munch on them on the trail, munch on them around camp. Just little snacks that you can treat yourself to when you're laid back on your camping trip. But, most importantly you want to make sure you figure out how much food you need for you and your participants. Always take a little bit extra. OK. You're always going to need more. Someone is going to get a little bit more hungry than the others. Once you've got your food you need to put it in your pack. You always want to put your food right up against the back of the pack, closest to you. So, you're going to take and get it all out. Dehyds lay really flat, so you want to take them put them right in the back of the pack. Lay them flat in there get them positioned out and then you can take your other food and put them in there. Go as low as you can, but make sure they stay on the back side of the pack. That's how you select and pack your foods for a weekend camping trip."
