"Here I'll be discussing how to make a minor seven flat five chord on the guitar by using the chord shapes that we know from major. The other name for minor seven flat five is half diminished. They're both synonymous. Now let's get back to the guitar here. Let's take a look here at the D chord this time. Now we have a root note, a fifth note which is an A, another root note which is a D, and third which is an F sharp. Now from this chord, the first thing in a minor seven flat five that we hear is the word minor. Which means flat three. The third note is here. We're going to lower that by one note to make it minor. Now we have D minor. Now we said minor seven. Seven means flat seven. So take this D, we have to D's, move it down one to major seven, again the flat seven, and we've got minor seven. Now the five which is this note under my middle finger, move that down one fret, minor seven flat five. And there's a minor seven flat five or half diminished chord."
