"Another thing to keep in mind before you ride in your pre-ride check is your clutch free play. If you have too much free play, then you can't use all of your clutch. If you have to little free play then you're always pretty much using your clutch so it's going to put premature wear on it. The best thing to do is to go up to your clutch lever depending on the model of the bike you have, some have hydraulic clutches, this one is a manual cable clutch and these are called barrels. What you usually want is about a nickels width of space between the clutch lever and the perch right here. To do that on a cable clutch or a manual clutch lever is to turn the barrel in or out to get the proper adjustment and you always want to make sure you don't have to screw this thing too far out. Usually I like to just have like two nickels width right here in between the perch and the barrel is as far out as I want to go up there. If you need more adjustment, then you're going to have to go to a lower adjustment on the cable or on the motor to get the proper distance in between your perch and your level or lever."
