"Alright, so now we've got this thing flat and we're going to go back and make it flatter. Also what I'm doing, what I'm being compulsive about it, getting it flat, what I'm doing is compressing the bottom. If you have anything that gets wide, has a wide bottom like this, a lot of surface, whether it's a plate, a platter a charger, a salsa bowl anything, they have a tendency of wanting to crack if you don't compress it. It's all about the compression. It moves all the clay together and it lines up. The molecules of the clay line up like soldiers and it really makes it a lot stronger when they're all lined up. If it's all over the place, it's not good. Alright, so here, we're just going to go put this spiral through there because it looks nice. See? Remember how ugly that looked before, you can go back and do that. Now I'm actually going to throw. I feel something funny in the clay. Find out what that is, take it out. Okay? Now we're ready to throw these walls."
