"Hello I'm Shefu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center. This is my assistant Melissa and this is Kung Fu for health. We are going to be working on an exercise called the single tuck jump. This is an advancing jump bring in your knees straight up. To perform the technique slowly I'll demonstrate it for you coming straight forward. So you are going to take a single step forward and as you step your hands are going to go back. It is important that you don't let your head duck down and in Kung Fu basically wherever your head goes your body follows so if you let your head go this way your jump is not going to be very high and you're going to be off balance when you land so as you come this way you want to dip down this way. Your arms are going to swing up over your head, a nice hard arm swing up. As you do this you're going to thrust your right knee upward lifting the knee and you are going to jump off your left foot. O'kay I'll demonstrate this one more time a little bit quicker. Again the landing is important. You don't want to land down like a ton of bricks so as you step the landing is going to be landing on your toes to heels o'kay and then straight into position. I'll have Melissa demonstrate it for you so I can point out some of the finer things, she is going to begin with her feet together, hands into fists, relax down by your side. You're going to step with your left foot Melissa and bring your arms straight back. You're going to thrust your arms up high and bring your right knee up like a crane stance and just jump up. Good. Again move back and just give us this one more time and kind of go a little bit faster. This is called single tuck jump, Kung Fu For Health."
