Kung Fu is a traditional form of martial arts native to China. The forms of combat arts that make up Kung Fu can be traced as far back as the 12th century BC. "Hello, I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center, this is my assistant Melissa and this is Kung Fu for health. We're going to be working on what's called the Kung Fu Straight Jump. To perform the Straight Jump, you're going to place your feet shoulder distance apart, your hands are going to clench into fist. You don't have to squeeze your hand very tight, but just keep the shape of your hands. Now, I'm going to go and turn this way so you kind of see what I'm looking for in the mechanics. Your hands start in front of you, now just doing this slow motion, I'm going to bend my knees, and I'm going to bring my arms back. Now here, I'm not letting my head go down like this, but I'm dropping my hips, so the body is semi straight. From here, I'm going to throw the arms up this way, giving a real good powerful arm swing, I'm going to thrust off my legs and jump vertically up and reach up. Okay. I'm going to have Melissa demonstrate this at fast speed. So she's going to bend, bring the arms back, bend the knees, swing, throw the arms up. Again. One more time. This is Straight Jump Kung Fu for health."
