Growing Philodendron Plants

"Hi I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb, for On Gardening. Philodendrons, there's a bunch of different philodendrons. This happens to be one of the new dwarf varieties, and you can see it's got a nice dark green foliage. It's a beautiful looking plant. Now occasionally you'll get a leaf that tends to be, well, past its prime. When that occurs, we just go ahead and take that leaf, take your scissors, take your hand cutters, cut it off, and through the magic of cutting you're through with this plant, as far as the bad looking leaf. It's going to occur. Every plant gets some leaves occasionally that aren't up to par. When that occurs, do a little bit of housekeeping, clean off those bad leaves. If you want to put a nice little leaf shine on here indoors, you could, but be moderate with it. Sometimes people wind up using mayonnaise. Remember you don't want to use it like it's a salad. Like it's bleu cheese dressing. Just a small amount on a little clean rag, if you want to use a little bit of milk or something, you could. I recommend you get some leaf shine products. Every nursery carries some leaf shine. There again, just use a small amount. These are great plants for indoors, great plants for low light. For On Gardening, I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb."
