"Another particularly useful knot around the campsite, is the Timber Hitch. This is usually used to bring, move timber around that you might want to use for a campfire, or if you need to build like a lean-to, or a structure of some sort. Anyway, to begin tying this knot, you start just like we have with the other hitches, just by going under. It would be a log in this case, and then you take it over this way, and wrap the loop around, like so. Then you just take this end, and go around several times. Three or four usually does the trick, and then you have your Timber Hitch, and it works much better on rougher surfaces, such as logs or wood, but you can kind of see how it works, and it's a really simple knot to untie. You just kind of pull it apart, and it falls right off."
