"Another hitch that is useful for attaching a rope to a pole is the rolling hitch. It's very similar to the top line hitch, I think you'll understand what I'm talking about as I go. Anyway, so you start, just like the clove hitch, except for, rather than going over this way, immediately you make another turn around, and then you cross over just like the clove hitch, and pull it through this way. If you're using this to hold up a load, you'll want the end of the rope that the load is on to be away from the double loop around the pole, this is the more stable side to do this. And if you need some extra stability, you can even come back over here and kind of finish it off with a little hitch that way. This really doesn't do a whole lot, but sometimes it's useful, and if you have like a little extra rope at the end it looks a little neater."
