"A really important quality for a coil to have, or a rope storage method to have is that it doesn't put too much strain on the rope. Of course, this doesn't really just as long as you don't tighten these down too batten. And also that it be easy to undo and the rope doesn't get tangled as it sits there. Also, when you store rope you want to make sure to keep it kind of enclosed. You don't really want it out to where dust can get to it, you really don't want it outside, you want it inside in a closet maybe in a rope bag, depending on the importance of the rope. So, in the case of this chain here, all you need to do to undo the chain, or unzip the chain, is pass the end of the rope back through the part that you ended it with and you can see you have this loop, and you just pull it through, and that's how you undo your chain."
