"Another variation on the clove hitch is a knot called the constrictor knot. It's very similar to the clove hitch in the way you make it, but it's different from the clove hitch in that it binds which means they're really difficult to untie. So if you need to tie a hitch that you don't want to come untied or leave there for a while if not permanently use this knot. Start the same way, go through just like the clove hitch and then you can actually make it from a clove hitch. See there's the clove hitch. The difference is you come through to the other side of this part of the rope and just go under and if you tighten it really tight you can see how this part comes over this part and causes it to bind which makes it more secure than the clove hitch but very difficult to untie if you do intend to untie it anytime soon."
