"There are a couple of different ways to tie the square knot. The square knot is generally used to put together two ropes of equal size. So it's often used for tying things onto your pack or the knot because your tying one end of the rope together. So anyway to start you wrap your rope around whatever you want to tie it around and then you start by the basic overhand knot that we talked about earlier. With a cross and you have right over left and then left over right and when you're finished. It should look like this. Rather than remember the right over left thing. I usually just kind of start tying it and you can kind of see this rope is on top and that of, you know the rope that's going around and it's just easy to tell that way what's going on. So a square knot you know it comes apart pretty easily and it's a really great knot to know."
