"For footwear, it's really, really important to bring socks because if your feet get wet and your socks get wet, you will get blisters very, very quickly. If you get blisters, it can be debilitating, you won't be able to hike very long, you know, it hurts a whole lot. So, it's really important to have good socks. What I usually do is I take a couple of pair of synthetic, like really thin running socks, like athletic socks, just because they're more comfortable, and I wear them under a big, heavy hiking sock. Back in the day they used to be made out of wool, but once again, wool doesn't dry very quickly, so they make synthetic wool, basically, and it keeps you very, very warm, but at the same time, it dries quickly and it will keep you from blistering. So, I mean, because it's so important to keep your feet healthy when you're hiking, I would say go ahead and splurge and bring a few pairs of socks, like several, maybe even one for every day. That's probably excessive, but you definitely want to be able to bring enough socks so that if rain hits, you're not going to be totally ruined and have blisters all over your feet."
