"Something that's also really important when you're hiking, is keeping your clothes dry. You don't want to have to go and put on the clothes that you're going to sleep in, and then they're all cold and wet, so what I always do, is I actually pack them inside gallon size baggies. It also helps with packing, because you have everything organized. You've got your pants all in one bag, your shirts all in one bag, etc, so the way I do it, is I take my pants, and I roll them up as small as I can. I'm going to put them inside the bag, and I've still got plenty of room, because it's synthetic. You want to roll them up really small. Then once you get them in the bag, you zip up the bag almost all the way, and then you can actually kneel on it, or sit on it, to get the rest of the air out, and then zip it up the rest of the way, and that's going to keep your clothes dry and compressed, so that you can fit more inside your backpack."
