The things that can be considered to be smellable is a lot longer list than you would probably suspect. It's basically anything that's man-made, a lot of adhesives, duct tape is considered to be a smellable. Bears actually like of duct tape. So duct tape, your band aids, your first aid kit, any soap that you're bringing you need to put in the bear bag. All of your cooking ware obviously. Any of your dishes. Even if you've cleaned it, sterilized it, and you can't smell anything, bear sense of smell is much stronger than that. So, basically all of your cookware is going to have to go up, and even the clothing that you cook in has to go up into the bear bag. So, basically you're going to want to change into your sleepwear after you're done cooking, because even then, just the aroma, like, wafting off of the stuff that you're cooking onto your clothing can be enough that the bear can smell it and come to your tent. Another one that the people really forget about is Chap Stick. Do not leave Chap Stick in your tent. That is a smellable. Bears can smell it, they will come for it. So all of those things need to be set aside and put up in the bear bag. In addition to that, all those things have been in your backpack all day long. So your backpack technically is a smellable. It's probably not as attractive to the bears as the other stuff, but you need to make sure to, when you're leaning your pack up against the tree at the day, do it at least far away from your campsite so that the bears are not going to be rummaging through your pack and coming to your campsite.
