"In addition to trying out all your gear to make sure that it is o'kay, it's safe, it's working well, you need to do more than just try out your hiking boots. You actually need to break them in. They're a lot harder to break in than just regular tennis shoes, because a lot of times they are made out of solid leather and then once you put all that waterproofing on there they're going to get stiffer and stiffer and stiffer so you really need to wear them around the house, take them out and really beat them up, really just get your foot used to being in the hiking boot because as I said before blisters is one of the most common problems when you are hiking and it can be one of the most debilitating problems also because if you get blisters bad enough you are not actually going to be able to continue hiking so it is really important to take your boots out and wear them as much as you can to make sure that your foot is o'kay inside the boot and that it is not sliding around, you're not getting friction anywhere and you are not getting blisters."
