"Let's talk now about how to keep maggots and night crawlers or worms alive when you're ice fishing. The most important thing to remember is you don't want them to freeze. So, there's a number of options out there. Typically when you buy maggots or meal worms from a store, from a tackle shop they come in a small container like this. Now, an option with this you can purchase what's called a bait puck. Simply a screw top, it's plastic, it's insulated and you put your maggots and the sawdust in here, you close it up. You can keep this out on the ice anywhere and it's not going to freeze. Now, if you don't have one of these the best thing to do with the maggots and the crawlers or the worms is to keep them in a cooler. That way they're insulated, they're not going to freeze. When you take them out they're still going to be alive. They'll be easy to put on the hook. Another alternative with the maggots; I wouldn't recommend it with this container, but if you get another plastic container you can actually put these in an inner pocket of your pants or your jacket to keep them warm and to keep them from freezing."
