"Let's talk now about an advance in not only ice fishing, but in fishing in general that's come along in recent years. And that's the use of fluorescent glow paint on jigs and lures. Essentially, what this special paint does, is it absorbs light, either from the sun or a very much more efficient way to do it is to actually bring a flashlight with you. And you actually shine that flashlight directly on the jig for usually anywhere from thirty seconds to a minute. Now, what this does, is it charges the jig. The special paint on this jig absorbs all of that light. You then put that jig down the hole and it actually glows. It's almost like one of the glow sticks that you see the kids have at Halloween. So, it glows under the ice. As you know, it's dark down there. We've got the ice covering the whole lake. So that glow often attracts fish, especially for fish like black crappies and wall eye that are known to bite at dusk and dawn during very low light conditions. Getting a couple of these can really increase your catch rates."
