Drawing Face Shadows

"Alright, so I'm going to add the shadow between the nose and the lip, and the lip and the chin. Now that we have the outline, it's going to be easier to do. So for the nose to here there's usually something called the cupid bow and it's going to be shadow. It comes right from the top here to a little bit above the top of the top lip. It's actually, lip comes out, the flesh comes like this so the light always catches in the top where it comes out. The shadow is going to be like that. So there's always kind of a line of light that goes right above lips and you'll see this later on as you draw more faces. I recommend doing it from real people for a little while. Make your friends and family sit for you. So there we go. It's kind of the cupids bow. Now in the bottom, it's kind of the same. It doesn't start from the top, there's a little bit of light that goes there, because lips are coming out. Remember the skull is like this, the teeth are right there and the lips come out. So like that, this line coming like this. And this is usually a pretty dark shadow on most people. Then sometimes people have a shadow down there. These two shadows aren't the darkest parts, shadows the face. This one can be but it's always going to be this part, this part."
