"Hi, my name is Kim Millikan. We're here at the National Ability Center, at our climbing wall, and if you notice, our climbing wall has quite a few holds. We have more holds than your average climbing wall does, because we don't change them as often; A, and they're there to make it accessible for everyone. It's much easier for us to remove holds from a root, or not let people climb on them, then it is to add holds all the time, and change things around, Plus some of our clients like to have the same holds there every time; specifically, those who have autism. We have koala bears, ant frogs, and lizards. Those tend to be huge motivators, especially for kids, and all of our holds were donated, so which has been absolutely wonderful, the wall, the hold, everything. And it's it's something that when we get new ones they notice. For example, Petzl just donated I think sixty holds to our wall, and I had one of our climbers put them on two weeks ago, and within a week I had people walking through saying, where'd these come from, and kids were all excited to come back this summer, so it's it's very motivating. Actually yes, it's important for us to have quite a few of the larger holds that we can't pull on, but also, like I said before, some people don't have the tricep muscles to pull, but have the muscles to push, or some people may be the opposite, and it's important that we have a a wide choice of holds. It's also important to know that we have young children who climb with very small hands, so they may need smaller holds as well, so we try to mix it up and keep every wall supplied well."
