"We're gonna' talk now about another jigging technique called finesse fishing. And finesse fishing usually, when you think of that it means very delicate, very light. Usually you want to use a smaller lure. You might think that it's only useful where for when you're fishing for small fish like a pan fish or a perch, but I've also had great success finesse fishing for bass, for lake trout, even for pike. And really, all that it entails is very, very subtle movements of your hand and the jig rod, and so what I would do is simply put that down there. Instead of holding the jig rod in my hand like this, it very often helps to put your hands at the end of it, and you just do very, very subtle movements. Let the jig do the work. Amazingly enough, simply gripping the handle of the rod like this, just slight pressure with your hand makes the jig dance. You wouldn't think it, but it really does. Another thing that I like to do sometimes is just sit and tap the base of the rod. Again, one of the really great ways to do this, and to figure out what you're going is to bring the the jig up to a place maybe six inches below the water; where you can see it, and just practice with these different techniques, and see what the jig does, and how it reacts to your hand movements."
