"So now that we have got our snake shaped up we know exactly what we want him to look like and now is the time to choose his appearance. When we paint the snake we are going to be using the acrylics and we want to coat his entire body with acrylic paint. So you could start with a base paint and these acrylics should be shaken up before we paint and you could start with a base paint, a base color and you really want to coat him well. What happens sometimes with newspaper and don't be afraid to get messy at this point and that is why we have got the plastic table cloth. What happens with newspaper is that this paint will sometimes show through if it doesn't have enough pigment so we need to do a second coat or do a little more detail. Also the important part is that this paint is going to dry and it is going to create a hard surface so we want to make sure that the entire snake is covered with this paint along with the tape. We are going right over the top of the tape and he is an abstract snake so he doesn't have to be perfect. We basically just want to coat him from head to toe or tail and make sure that he has got all that newspaper covered. We don't want to know that there is newspaper underneath by the time that we're done."
