Choosing & Planting Grape Vines

"Okay we're going to talk about how to pick out and plant a good grape vine. Just make sure it's got some new growth on it. This is from last year's growth. This is new growth. So it's doing pretty good. These guys you want to plant on some sort of trellis or fence because they will grow to the height of that trellis or fence. That's how big they get so you want to space them accordingly. Full sun. These guys definitely want to be in full sun. When you plant them you want to dig the hole about twice the size of this pot and maybe throw a bag of top soil around it. Some kind of good black dirt will definitely help it get established faster. Just throw the dirt around it when you put it in the ground, and you probably won't get fruit the first year. It usually takes a year or two to get some, to get it to actually produce some grapes. It says right here you should fertilize it in the early spring so the earlier you plant these guys the better and fertilize them probably right when you plant it if not maybe a week after, and then every ten to fourteen days you want to give them some fertilizer if you're using a Miracle Gro product anyway. Just water them. That's the most important thing. Make sure that it's not growing away from your fence. Make sure it's right up against your fence so it'll grow up it and you'll have a wonderful grape vine."
