"So what I like to do here at this point is out it my little potter's mark, a little swirly little chu de mio down on the bottom; grab my throwing sponge, the all natural sponge here cut in half so I can get it around both sides of the pot. Pinch all the clay from the bottom, just pinch it up to the top; all the while I'm compressing on the rim by doing that it insures that that rim doesn't crack or wobble or do anything funny during the firing process because that is what is going to be touching the persons lip that buys the piece. So you don't want to cut their lips with any funny little inconsistencies up there. So I'm going to pinch it; pull it to my desired size, about there then I'm going to compress that top to get that funny wobble out. If it's wobbling to much you don't like that, all you got to do is come in find out where that wobble is and just come right across the top like that until all of it comes off; and if anything falls inside like that just did just patiently pull that out, no problem that's what they made sponges for and just incorporate that into there; o.k. Now that I've got my desired shape; I want to shape a little bit more, I'm going to put in this little design; where is it? Right here. Get up here like that and down here like that, maybe just a little bit of this; just keeps it from being boring. Take your needle; take your potter's tool here, clean up the bottom so there's very little trim work to do. So I've cleaned up my hands, made them nice and dry; and my wire tool down and over, over to the left. Two fingers nice and dry; pick up, peel off like that; let it set up there and then we're going to let it set up a little bit, give it a proper trimming and then connect it."
