When we attend a show we typically will have a format where we do the team penning on Saturday and then on Sunday we go to ranch sorting. Ranch sorting is what we're going to do here is just a little bit. Where the plan is you have two adjoining round pens each round pen being a diameter of fifty feet. You're going to have twelve cows situated on one side of the opening. There will be ten with numbers zero through without numbers affectionately called the trash cows. The announcer is going to say flags up and a team of two will begin the sixty second competition. They're going to choose the strategy most typical is to switch back and forth as they call the first number. Perhaps it's a number three their randomly selected so each team coming in will began with a new number. If I were to start with three I'm going to have to sort the cattle sequentially across that center line as he goes three and onward rounding out and and back to two. We must keep the two unnumbered or trash cows away from the hole in order to keep them back behind the line while the sixty second clock runs out. In this sport you don't have to have all ten cows to get a time but in the end the number of cows always beats the time. So we'll think about some of the strategy that makes ranch sorting more successful as we go on.
