"Now we're ready to cut that slot that we described down this line here and I'm going to set my router up with 1/2 inch bit to make 1/4 inch deep slot along this line. A quarter inch is what I'm going to set it for but it has to be enough so that the end of this bolt and this washer are below the surface of this board here so I've already testing my depth a little bit and it looks like this is going to be just right. So I put on the eye protection and we're going to get ready and cut this slot. There you go, that's pretty good. You'll notice that the first path I made was not to depth but I like to make a pass like that on this wood because it helps keep a nice clean line here instead of tearing the wood all up like it would if you tried to make this deep cut all at once."
