This is another exercise in loosening yourself up and letting it happen and I don't know maybe letting it all hang out for all I know. But it is, I think if you concentrate so much all the time on making a painting or you know doing a drawing you sometimes lose the, just the creative energy that moves through your body. So this is about moving your body and moving your, moving your tool. In this case I've got this nice big chunk of charcoal here. It's willow charcoal so it doesn't get very dark and I am just going to try to go with the flow. I'm going to make marks in different directions, in different ways. For example I might hold it, hold my stick, I usually, you usually don't hold charcoal like this. I'm going to hold this and make some marks with it and then I'm going to turn the charcoal around so that I'm working on, on this very long edge here. What does that do? Again this is something this piece of paper is really not going to be big enough for me but if you work small this could seem very big and very frightening to you. And the point of this exercise is not to come out with anything beautiful or anything at all but just too really experiment you know? What's going to happen if I kind of go like that you know? If I think like Ellen DeGeneres you know and I kind of go Oh! You know and she goes into one of her dance moves and you sort of go Oh! Like that you know, you get your whole body involved in this and you end up with a lot of energy being generated and again don't care about what it is. Respond to what it's doing, respond to what your body wants to do.
