Types of graphite for design include pencil and powder forms. Use different types of graphite with tips from an artist in this free design video.

We've all familiar with graphite in the shape of our number two pencil and then if you're an artist you have a wide range of weights of pencils but artist also now have graphite powder. This is the only thing you're not going to have around your house at this point but it comes in a jar. You shouldn't use this anywhere where you've got a fan blowing because this is very fine dust and it just disappears like that and we're going to be using denatured alcohols. So again you do need some ventilation. You don't want to stay in a closed room with this for hours at a time. The amount of time you're going to spend doing it is fine but and you also want to be careful around children with this. But what we're going to do is you can of course just use it as a way, using it with your fingers or with a chamois cloth or some sort of rag. You can create these beautiful graydations which are very hard to get with a pencil point. This is really great way to get a large area of value with graphite but what I've done is I have, I have scattered some around the page and I'm going to start spraying alcohol. That A, kind of starts moving the graphite powder around.
