"These are the materials we'll be using for our shaggy recycled jeans rug. You'll need about five to six pairs of old blue jeans or any color actually jeans. We're making a 30 inch by 23 inch rug and I used about six pairs of jeans. You'll need a good, strong pair of scissors; nice sharp scissors. You'll need a ruler and a tape measure for measuring and you'll need a sewing machine fitted with a heavy duty needle. This is a jeans and denim needle. Now I'll show you how to prepare the base of our shaggy area rug. You'll need a pair of jeans, old jeans. And we are going to cut off the legs. And then we'll sew, we'll open up both of the legs and sew them together to make one flat panel. And then you can measure that to, to the size of the rug that you want plus about an inch all the way around. So you want to have a large enough panel, so we're going to cut these open. And have a large enough panel to be the size of the rug plus one inch all the way around. So you take the panels and you sew them together to get a flat piece. Don't throw away the pockets and the zippers because we can recycle this further. We can use it for another project."
