"Alright I forgot to mention before I put this on, what you want to do when you have your piece, you want to examine it, you want to see how much clay you have to work with. You can hear it on the bottom how much clay you have, you tap it, get used to it, certain sounds for certain thickness. And you also want to judge where it's at ok. This piece is where I like to have it at. Some people might think it's too wet to trim, but I like trimming when it's wet. And it's not really wet but it's definitely between being wet or leather hard. But if you can trim while it's in this state, it will save you trimming till it's going down and you can also save your trim and re wedge it and you don't have to worry about dealing with dry trim scrap. Which you would have to reclaim in your slop bucket. So just gage see how much clay you have to work with. I can tell, I got a lot of, I left a lot of clay on here because I like nice big feet on my tea bowls. So just get a good gage cause once you are on there you are not going to know, you just have to visualize it, so. From here I know what size my foot is going to be, see if we could just recenter that real quick. And by doing that and it's ok if it's a little off center you know, the whole thing is off center, but if you want to be like that and check it, just go ahead and hold a steady finger and you can tell where it's off and you can just move it. Because the chuck is centered no matter what if the piece is got to be a center on it because the chuck here is centered so let's go ahead and remove some large portions of clay."
