"The first step in making an album is pre-production. Now essentially what that means is before you start producing the album, you want to have a really good idea of what you're getting into. Now we'll go over each of these individual steps, but essentially you want to know exactly how long it's going to take, or at least have a good idea. Have a calendar set up. You want to know your budget. You want to know how much money you can spend on this project, and you want to know who's going to record with you on the disc. All of these aspects need to be figured out ahead of time because recording an album is very expensive. At least it can be depending on the scope of the album that you're getting into. And time really is money in this process. So if you get to a point where you find yourself planning in the middle of a project, it can really derail your time line and set you off, thereby needing to move your deadlines up, delaying the project and it might have some very poor, the results might end up not being what you wish in the long run."
