"Hi, I'm Keeley Selvage with Keeley's Skin Solutions. I've been a licensed clinical aesthetician for over a half a decade and I'm going to talk to you about when teenagers can get laser hair removal. That's actually a very good question because it does matter. Teenagers, when they're going through puberty will grow hair at an excessive rate, and they may notice and that may be why you're looking for laser hair removal. Therefore, it's best to wait, really, until they're through with puberty because actually, their body is creating new follicles all the time, so you could go for a series of six hair removal treatments, and then need to go back for a whole other series. So it's best to wait. Wait until after puberty, as best as you can. The way that the hair cycle works is we have four stages of hair growth, and the laser is attracted only to hair that is in the growth stage. So therefore, you have to come back for several treatments, and it's not going to get a hundred percent of the hairs in the very first treatment. Hair in teenagers grows faster than hair in adults, so that's something else that you want to consider when thinking about laser hair removal for your teenager.
