"I'm Keeley Selvage with Keeley's Skin Solutions. I've been a licensed clinical aesthetician for other half a decade and I'm going to talk to you about how long laser hair removal lasts. Now, to answer that question we need to know a little bit of background information about exactly how laser hair removal works. Laser hair removal attracts itself to the hair, to the color in the hair actually and the heat from the laser travels down the hair and then essentially it kills that root so that root won't be creating hair anymore. But now, the laser will only kill the hair that is in the growth or in the active stage because we have many different stages of the hair cycle. Therefore you will have to come in for several treatments to catch them all in their active stage. Laser hair removal is 98-99% permanent. That means that the hair follicles that it kills, it kills. They are not going to be making hair anymore. But because of the way the growth stage works, it does leave a few hairs so that it is 98-99% permanent. Because of that, when you go to ask about and do your research for laser hair removal treatments, you want to ask if they have any kind of plan where you can get touch ups; maybe once or twice a year.
