"Hi this is Teri and in this segment we're going to do how to backcomb hair. Now another term for backcombing is also teasing. Now what we're going to do is, you're going to start with a fine tooth comb; so any fine tooth comb will work. And what I'm going to do, I'm not going to tease or backcomb her entire hair; that takes a while and it also creates a lot of knots. You're going to have to remember that when you backcomb hair afterwards it's going to take a little bit of gentle care to get some of those backcomb knots out. So we're just going to do her bangs; and I'm going to show you just a little style where you can backcomb the front of your hair and pin it up, it's very popular right now. So I'm going to take her shorter pieces that kind of work as her bangs right now, I'm going to hold them straight up, and all I'm going to do is take the comb and comb backwards; hence the term backcombing. And I don't do it too heavily so it creates knots, but just so that it creates volume. This is very big in the 80's people use to do their whole hair like this. Alright and you also if you have very fine hair, she doesn't , but if you do you'll want to use some spray as well. See we're getting this 80's thing here, this is good for costumes and stuff too. So now that it's backcombed what I'm going to do, I'm going to gather it and just pin it up like this. Just creating volume in the front of her hair. Just take two bobby pins and criss cross them. And we have a really nice backcombed bang look; here we are."
