Summary: Welcome a new pastor to the Christian community by helping him or her get to know key figures and sharing the history of the church and the previous direction of the church. Allow a new pastor to share his or her vision that has been set in place by God with advice from a minister in this free video on Christian living and beliefs.
"I want to talk to you about how to welcome a new pastor. You know it's unfortunate but there are times when pastors have to go. There are times when they leave to go perhaps to another work that God has called them to. There are times when sometimes pastors retire, and for other reasons pastor come and they go. And so perhaps will get an opportunity to welcome a new pastor to your congregation. Well how do you do that? Now depending upon your denomination there might be different ways that people are used to doing that. There might be a committee set in place for this sort of thing, to help the pastor to integrate into the congregation as far as getting to know the key people, the leaders that are set in place. And some of the key lay people that are in the congregation. Some of the deacons and the ushers and so forth, so, there are a number of opportunities then for that pastor to get to know those people that he's going to be working with hopefully for years to come. Now if there is community and there is no set up organization as far as within the denomination, then I think it's important that the leaders of the church take it upon themselves to get to know that pastor, to share the history of the church with the pastor, and the direction that the church has previously gone into. But at the same time, getting an understanding, it's important for them to grab a hold of the vision of that new pastor. See because it's the pastor that's been set in place by God, and so it's important then that all leadership and lay people alike grab a hold of the vision that this particular pastor has, because it just might not be the same as the former pastor."
